National Assembly: List Of Senators That Won’t Return To The National Assembly In 2023

Some of them lost their party’s primary election, some chose to call it quits, while others decided to contest for other elective positions.

As the ninth National Assembly gradually winds down, it has been confirmed that some current Senators will not be returning to the hallowed chambers after the 2023 elections.

 

Newsonline reports that about 50 senators will be out of the upper chamber of the National Assembly, the Senate come 2023 general election.

 

Some of them lost their party’s primary election, some chose to call it quits, while others decided to contest for other elective positions.

 

Particularly in the All Progressives Congress (APC), it will be recalled that some of the lawmakers complained that they were schemed out of getting their party’s ticket and threatened to defect to other parties before the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari and other party leaders.

 

In all, over forty Senators are not expected to be a part f the 10th National Assembly which commences in 2023.

 

Some others may still join the list if they are unable to secure the votes of their people to bring them back as lawmakers.
