1. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) yesterday fined Arise Television N2 million over a fake report about the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu. The TV station had aired a report that the Independent National Broadcasting Commission (INEC) was investigating Tinubu’s alleged crime bordering on narcotics and illicit drugs which turned out to be fake.

2. Two presidential candidates for the forthcoming 2023 election, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, met yesterday in Abuja on Monday at the private wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The video of them exchanging pleasantries has been trending online.

3. An Uyo Federal High Court on Monday nullified the election of Akanimo Udofia as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State. Justice Agatha Okeke, who delivered the judgement, ordered the APC to conduct a fresh governorship primary election within 14 days.

4. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday adjourned indefinitely the trial of the Biafra nation agitator, Nnamdi Kanu in the terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government. Justice Binta Nyako put off the trial pending the resolution of the Federal Government’s appeal against the October 13 judgment of the Court of Appeal that discharged him from the terrorism charges.

5. Gunmen, on Monday, invaded Obudi Agwa community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, killing five persons, including the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Ignitus Asor. It was gathered that some armed youths stormed the palace of the traditional ruler where a dispute between locals was being arbitrated and opened fire on him.

6. Presidential Candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, cannot win next year’s election, according to Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State. Although political pundits have rated Obi as one of the contestants to be on the lookout for in next year’s contest, Soludo has said even the Labour Party candidate knows he is going nowhere as far as the 2023 presidency is concerned.

7. The federal government has said the consistent growth in Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has not had a positive impact on the lives of its citizens as a result of growing inflation. Speaking at the 28th edition of the Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmad said soaring food inflation in the country has outshined the seventh quarterly growth in the economy.

8. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Lagos Branch, has said it is set to draw the attention of Nigerians to the Federal Government’s attempt to casualise the academia. As such, Chairman, ASUU UNILAG, Dr Dele Ashiru, said a protest rally, titled, ‘The casualisation of intellectualism in Nigeria,’ would hold today.

9. The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ali, on Monday, confirmed the arrest of nine suspected bank account hackers in the State.
Ali, while addressing journalists on the development, said the syndicate specialised in using tricycles to rob passengers of their valuables in the State.

10. Nigerians took to twitter on Monday to express displeasure over irregularities found in the voter register released online by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Social media users pointed out that there were many cases of multiple registrations and the registration of under-aged looking voters.
