MultiChoice Nigeria has hiked subscription prices for 3rd time in 2023 amid economic hardship in Nigeria.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that amid ongoing economic hardship in Nigeria, MultiChoice Nigeria has announced an upward review in the bouquet prices of DStv and GOtv for the third time in 2023.

This Nigeria news platform understands that this could be confirmed in a text message sent to subscribers by MultiChoice.

The text message stated clearly that the new bouquet price would take effect from November 6.

The latest increase which is another 17% increase will have GOtv subscribers pay N12,500 for the Supa+ package the highest subscription price as against the N10,500 that it initially cost. DStv subscribers will also be made to pay N29,500 as against the N24,500 it earlier charged premium subscribers.

The latest increase comes as Nigerians continue to battle the ripple effect of fuel subsidy removal and and the weakening value of the country’s currency at the FX market.

Newsonline Nigeria recalls that President Bola Tinubu had on assumption of office immediately removed subsidy on fuel, the development caused a significant hike in the pump price of fuel from about N189 per liter to over N600 which it currently sells.

The rise in the pump price of fuel had adversely affected transporting which had in turn affected the prices of commodities across the nation with Nigerians struggling to afford basic commodities. The prices of commodities hiked further after the President Bola Tinubu federal government floated the country’s currency causing it to weaken further at the FX market.

This is not the first time that MultiChoice will be increasing the bouquet prices of DStv and GOtv, recall that in May, the pay TV firm increased its subscription package by 17 percent after it earlier increased the bouquet prices earlier in the year.
