Newsonline Nigeria reports that Arsenal legend, Paul Merson predicts the Premier League title winner for next season.
Merson spoke about Manchester City to retain the Premier League title again, while Chelsea to miss out on top four spot.
As you recall, Manchester City won the Premier League title last season, while Chelsea finished in the bottom half of the table.
Merson thinks Manchester City are favorites to win the Premier League title again, but he’s concerned that Gundogan’s departure and Kyle Walker’s potential exit might make things challenging for them this season.
Merson thinks Arsenal could be competitive, but he believes Manchester City’s bench is very formidable.
According to Merson, Declan Rice will have to adjust to Arsenal’s style of play. They move the ball around more quickly than he’s used to at West Ham and with England.
Merson believes a great deal hinges on whether Manchester United can acquire Harry Kane. If they do, they’ll be a significant threat for the Premier League title. If they don’t, they’ll still be contending for a top-four finish.
Merson doesn’t believe Chelsea will finish in the top four this season. He thinks they have a lot of work to do right now, and their squad is quite unbalanced.
Merson also thinks that the only thing that can stop Manchester City from winning the Premier League title is their own complacency. He thinks they have the best squad and should be able to defend their crown.
