Army has warned against fake recruitment scam.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Army in a stern warning to the public, debunked an online recruitment scam orchestrated by fraudulent individuals posing as military officers.

Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, made this announcement in a statement released on Friday.

Addressing the issue directly, Nwachukwu stated, “The fake recruitment was conducted under the guise of one Maj.-Gen. Gwabin Musa, with the deceptive offer to assist 20 interested individuals in joining the Nigerian Army, Navy, or Air Force.”

He stressed that the impostor had no affiliation with the Nigerian Army or any branch of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, declaring, “The army does not engage in recruitment through unofficial channels or by proxy.”

Nwachukwu went on to explain that the Nigerian Army adheres strictly to its established recruitment policies and guidelines, as outlined in the Harmonised Terms and Conditions Service Soldiers, Rating, and Airmen Revised 2017 Edition.

These procedures, he emphasized, are characterized by transparency, regulation, and coordination, encompassing various stages such as credential screening, medical evaluations, physical and mental assessments, aptitude tests, and oral interviews.

He warned the public to exercise caution when encountering online recruitment offers and urged them to report any suspicious activity. Nwachukwu reassured citizens that the Nigerian Army provides official recruitment information through designated channels and platforms, without soliciting any form of payment or financial commitment from applicants.

He added, “We are actively collaborating with law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for this fraudulent activity. We encourage the public to assist in this endeavor by reporting suspicious recruitment offers and individuals to the appropriate authorities.”

However, Nwachukwu affirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to the safety and security of the public. The message to all Nigerians is clear: stay vigilant, steer clear of scams, and report any suspicious activity to protect yourself and others from falling victim to fraudulent recruitment schemes.
