Jonathan has preached forgiveness and said that letting go of grudges is vital for Nigeria’s unity.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former President Goodluck Jonathan has declared that he bears no grudges against anyone who may have wronged him in the past, stressing that forgiveness and moving forward are vital for Nigeria’s unity and progress.

Jonathan made the remarks on Wednesday at a requiem mass in Abuja held in honour of the late Chief Audu Ogbeh, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and respected elder statesman.

Paying glowing tribute, the ex-president described Ogbeh as a humble and forgiving leader who never allowed bitterness to guide his actions.

“Chief Ogbeh was a man who did not seek revenge. He believed the past should be left behind, and that we must keep moving forward,” Jonathan said. “In that sense, he was just like me. If you hurt me today, I will forgive you. I don’t carry grudges against people. I believe the past is past and I move on.”

Recalling his early interactions with Ogbeh as a deputy governor, Jonathan noted that while deputy governors were often treated with little regard, Ogbeh always extended kindness and respect.

“Whenever I visited Abuja, I would go to see him, and we always had good conversations. He was such a generous person,” Jonathan said, adding that their warm relationship continued even after he became president.

He urged Nigerian politicians to emulate Ogbeh’s humility, forgiving spirit, and commitment to building bridges across divides for the sake of national development.
