Insecurity: Ondo Govt Bans Night Clubs, Okada Operators In the State

The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has issued an order restricting nightclub activities in the 18 local government areas of the state, as well as Okada operators.

 

Newsonline reports that vehicles with tinted glasses without permits, unregistered vehicles and the use of sticker number plates have been banned in the state.

 

According to the order, motorcycle operations outside of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and nightclub activities after 12 a.m. will no longer be permitted in the state.

Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Commander of Amotekun Corps, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

 

Akogun said the order takes immediate effect, stating that security agencies have been told to enforce the ban.

 

He said the ban became necessary following cases of insecurity in the state.

 

Part of the statement read, “Law enforcement agencies are to resume enforcement on the Ban on Motorcycle Operations outside 6am-6pm, Night Club activities beyond 12 midnight, use of vehicles with tinted glasses without permit, unregistered vehicles, use of sticker number plates in lieu of car dealership approved stickers.

 

“Accordingly, all Security Agencies are hereby enjoined to impound all such motorcycles and vehicles while the owners or riders would be prosecuted.”
