President Muhammadu Buhari Aide on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie has reacted to the arrest of Senator Ike Ekweremadu by the Metropolitan Police over allegations of human trafficking and organ harvesting.

 

Newsonline reports that Lauretta Onochie said the arrest and instant trial of Ike Ekweremadu and his wife show the readiness of the United Kingdom justice system as an arm of government.

 

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who has been representing Enugu West senatorial district, Enugu state, and his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, were arrested in the UK for allegedly facilitating the “travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting”.

 

United Kingdom Metropolitan police said the couple was charged with conspiracy to arrange and facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.

Senator Ike Ekweremadu who has been in the National Assembly since 2003, was two times former Deputy Senate President, of Nigeria.

 

Ike Ekweremadu hails from Mpu, a remote community in Aninri local government area, Enugu State.

 

Ekweremadu was a former secretary to Enugu State government under Chimaraoke Nnamani, before heading to the National Assembly for nearly 20 years.

 

Reacting, Onochie while commending the speedy process added that ‘Nigeria’s criminal justice system has lessons to learn.

 

”Sen. Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice, have Been charged to court. No delay. No mago mago. Instant justice. No faffing about.

 

”Our criminal justice system in Nigeria has lessons to learn. Speedy dispensation of justice would reduce animosity and anger.”
