Igbo Muslims and other tribes have been appointed as Abuja National Mosque Imams.

The newly named Imams are Prof. Ilyasu Usman from Enugu, Prof. Luqman Zakariyah from Osun, Dr. Abdulkadir Salman from Kwara, Haroun Muhammad Eze from Enugu, and Prof. Khalid Aliyu Abubakar from Plateau.

These appointments followed an approval process involving the General Purpose Committee and the National Fatwa Committee.

Since its establishment in 1984, the Abuja National Mosque has consistently been led by respected Muslim scholars who oversee its spiritual responsibilities.

This latest appointment continues the tradition of selecting qualified leaders to guide worshippers in one of Nigeria’s most prominent Islamic centres.
