NewsOnline Nigeria reports that respected media practitioner and political figure, Hon. Idumonza Isidahomhen, has emerged as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the forthcoming Edo Central Senatorial District by-election, scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Announcing the results, the returning officer, Mr. Iyamu Collins, declared: “Hon. Idumonza Isidahomhen, having satisfied the requirements of the Electoral Act and secured the highest number of valid votes, is hereby elected as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party for the Edo Central Senatorial by-election.”

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Isidahomhen expressed deep gratitude to party faithful for entrusting him with the mandate. He described the moment as a pivotal opportunity for the people of Esanland to chart a new course through purposeful legislative representation.

“I stand before you today with a solemn pledge to work tirelessly for the upliftment of Esanland,” he said. “This election is not just about winning a seat; it is about rewriting the story of our people through economic renewal and legislative impact.”

Calling on Esan sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora to rally behind the SDP, he emphasized that the coming election marks the dawn of a new era.

“It is my resolve to pursue the best interests of Esanland and promote the welfare and happiness of our people in every way possible through the grace of Almighty God,” he affirmed, promising to deliver legacy projects that would benefit both present and future generations.

With this development, the SDP positions itself as a formidable force in the Edo Central senatorial race, as political momentum builds ahead of the August poll.
