Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has stated that he will work with Rivers State, Nyesom Wike to galvanize vote in the South for Atiku victory in the 2023 general election.
Newsonline reports that Governor Okowa said to have an in-road in Rivers State and Southern states, Wike will be one of the leaders in the campaign.
Recall that Governor Okowa was picked by Atiku as his running mate, after snubbing the popular choice of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governor, Nyesom Wike.
Atiku Abubakar, after his presidential primary victory, constituted a committee to recommend who would be the vice-presidential candidate of the opposition PDP.
Atiku however, ignored his committee to pick Ifeanyi Okowa, which broke the camel’s back.
The decision of Atiku was seen as an insult by PDP stakeholders, including Wike, Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State.

Speaking on Okowa’s role to ensure peaceful settlement of aggrieved members, particularly Wike, the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, assured that Okowa needs Wike’s support ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Aniagwu assured that Okowa would work with other leaders in the south to get votes for the PDP.
The Commissioner said, “Okowa will work with other leaders in the south and across the country to galvanize the voters. He (Okowa) believes that to have an inroad in Rivers State, for example, he will need leaders led by Wike to get the votes.
“Okowa will work with Wike very well. Okowa will also reach out to our brothers and sisters in the South-West and in the South-East, which is already happening. The challenge at hand is not a one-man show.
“Beyond members of our party, Nigerians believe that the PDP should get it right as the major option for the people ahead of the 2023 general election.”
