The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu has been accused of forcing markets in Nigeria’s economic capital to close down for the campaign rally of Bola Tinubu.

Newsonline reports that the allegation was made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos gubernatorial candidate, Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor.

The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu holds his campaign rally in the state he was governor from 1999 to 2007 at Teslim Balogun Stadium on Saturday (today).

Jandor, who was a former APC member revealed that all markets in Lagos were ordered to be shutdown by the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Azeez Olajide Adediran described the move as an abuse of powers which he further alleged is synonymous with the APC leadership in Lagos.

Jandor said in a statement in condemnation of the alleged move by Tinubu and Sanwo-olu, “markets across Lagos have been forced to close with all Traders mandated by Governor Sanwo-olu government, to attend the APC presidential rally for Bola Tinubu happening today.

“I have received reports that traders have been threatened with retributive violence from APC-sponsored thugs if they refuse to comply.

“This kind of wanton abuse of power is synonymous with the APC’s leadership in Lagos and symbolic of the corruption that plagues our state.”

He added, “It is criminal to deny citizens the right to go about their business and against the rule of law to coerce them to join political rallies.

“I condemn the actions of Governor Sanwo of Lagos state.”

The PDP governorship candidate promised to bring the needed change that the residents of Lagos need if elected in 2023 election.

“Real change is coming, and we must start to model this change by challenging directives by the Lagos state government that contravene established laws.

“Together we will end this era of impunity and usher in a breath of fresh air,” Jandor added.
