Funke Akindele has been revealed to have rejected an alleged monetary bribe from the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a reason why he blew hot on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos deputy governorship candidate.
Newsonline reports that Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor – a former ally of Tinubu- the governorship candidate of PDP for Lagos State stated this in reaction to a video message which has gone viral on social media.
In the video, Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, said he would not want to hear the name of Funke Akindele, a popular Nollywood diva, actress of Jennifer Diary.
Azeez Olajide Adediran, in response to the attack by the APC presidential candidate to his deputy governor candidate, slammed Tinubu, whom he accused of being wealthy without a known source of income.

Jandor added that as a successful narrative entrepreneur, Funke rejected monetary inducement from Tinubu to work for him and the Lagos APC governorship candidate, Governor Sanwo-Olu.
The PDP Lagos governorship candidate said, “Over the last few months, through radio and television interviews and communications via the Lagos4Lagos channels, I have graciously responded to questions about my decision to invite Funke Akindele to run with me as deputy governor of Lagos state.
“Despite my very clear intentions, people have continued to try to discredit Funke Akindele and ridicule her capacity to lead, using the very things that have brought her great success, and acclaim as reasons to attack her. Let me state it again, unequivocally, Funke Akindele is my running mate because she is one of the most accomplished indigenes of Lagos state, an extremely savvy businesswoman who has contributed so much in Lagos economy where those who spoke little of her have made their fortunes, without a trace to any personal business of theirs, before attaining public office.
“She understands the power of narrative and has used it to advance causes important to her, her exemplary career of over twenty years in an industry where the stars of others have risen and waned, speaks volume of her tenacity.”
“There is so much effort to discredit her because the people concerned know that Funke cannot be bought with monetary incentives( believe me they have tried) she cannot be bullied and she refuses to be corrupted by the ambition of others,” he revealed.
He added, “There’s no parent who wouldn’t be proud of Funke Akindele who rose to her current enviable status, through her hard work and parental training, except for those who trained theirs with public funds.
I would be terrified too, if I was an opposition to such a formidable woman.
“But unlike them, we intend to win honourably, by convincing the people about sincerity and urgency of our mission. I would advise those who whisper about her credibility to do the same.”
