Former Labour Minister Chris Ngige has been arrested by EFCC.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Governor of Anambra State and immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The confirmation came on Tuesday from his former media aide, Fred Chukwuelobe, who dismissed earlier social media reports suggesting that Ngige had been kidnapped.

In a brief statement, Chukwuelobe said: “Former Governor of Anambra State and immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, is with the EFCC. More details later.”

Ngige, who served in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet, recently made headlines after an armed attack on his convoy in Anambra State. Although he was not in the vehicle during the attack, the incident intensified concerns about his security.

As of the time of this report, the EFCC has not disclosed the reason for his arrest or the scope of the investigation.
