FG has approved Abdulsalami Abubakar University of Agriculture and Climate Action, Niger State.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government has officially approved the Abdulsalami Abubakar University of Agriculture and Climate Action in Mokwa, Niger State.
This approval makes it the 65th state university and the 277th institution in the Nigerian university system.
The approval was confirmed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) through a letter addressed to Niger State Governor Umar Bago.

The document, dated October 2, 2024, followed a formal notification from the state government about the university’s establishment.
The NUC has assured its backing for the new institution and urged the state to utilize its guidance on sustainable operations and funding.
Relevant agencies such as JAMB, TETFund, and NYSC have also been informed about the new university.
The university is expected to focus on agriculture and climate action, contributing to academic and developmental goals in the region.
The letter read in part: “Consequent upon the receipt of the Niger State Government’s letter dated 2nd October, 2024, notifying the National Universities Commission (NUC) of the establishment of the Abdulsalami Abubakar University of Agriculture and Climate Action, Mokwa, and the formal presentation of the Strategic documents, including the relevant gazetted University Law, Academic Brief, and Physical Master Plan, I write, on behalf of the National Universities Commission (NUC), to inform His Excellency, that with effect from Monday 2nd December, 2024, Abdulsalami Abubakar University of Agriculture and Climate Action, Mokwa, Niger State, has been recognised as the 65th State University and 277th University in the Nigerian University System.”
