Falana has explained why FG pardoned Ibom Air Passenger Comfort Emmanson.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has claimed that the Federal Government dropped charges against Comfort Emmanson, an Ibom Air passenger accused of unruly behaviour, because it failed to prosecute Fuji music star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) for a similar offence.

In a statement on Wednesday, Falana argued that the government had “lost the moral right” to prosecute any unruly passenger after hastily pardoning KWAM 1 over his recent conduct at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

He criticised authorities for accepting the musician’s apology without allowing police investigations to be concluded.

“Since citizens have equal rights, obligations, and opportunities before the law, the Federal Government will henceforth be accused of discriminatory treatment against any unruly passenger, given that KWAM 1 was ‘pardoned’ without any criminal trial whatsoever,” Falana said.

The Senior Advocate maintained that the withdrawal of Emmanson’s case reflects inconsistency in the enforcement of airport regulations and sets a precedent for unequal treatment under the law.
