In an exclusive and profoundly revealing interview with Chude Jideonwo on the viral #WithChude show, Obi Cubana Iyiegbu, the renowned Nigerian businessman, shares his untold story for the very first time in three years. Known for his opulent lifestyle and the extravagant funeral he held for his late mother, Obi Cubana explains the profound personal reasons behind his decisions.
“In my family, I’m saying it for the first time: nobody has lived up to 80 years. My father died at 66; my grandmother died at 75; my grandfather died at 78 years. So, we told my mum, you will break this,” he shares, offering a rare glimpse into the emotional journey that inspired him to honour his mother in a grand and unforgettable way.
He went further to address the persistent rumours surrounding his wealth, revealing how his rapid financial success, coupled with his wife’s serious health challenges, sparked widespread speculation of foul play. He recalls the harrowing time when his wife was paralyzed on one side of her body, with doctors predicting she would never walk or bear children again. “It was someone that called me and said see what they are hearing, that I went to use my wife for ‘juju’…God forbid if she had died at that moment, I don’t want people would have been saying right now”, Obi reflects.
Beyond the headlines and gossip, this interview delves into the lessons Obi Cubana learned from his legal battles with the EFCC and how he managed his wealth amidst fears that he couldn’t ignore. Today, his wife is fully recovered, their family has grown, and Obi continues to thrive. This is not just a story of success; it is a testimony of faith, love, and perseverance.
