Ex Biafra War Lord Wife, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has spoken on Nnamdi Kanu’s life sentencing.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, wife of the late ex-Biafra war lord, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu has urged restraint following the conviction and life sentence of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on terrorism charges.

She described the outcome as “not the result we prayed for, but a reality we must now confront,” stressing the importance of measured responses from Ndigbo and all Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.

In a statement issued Friday from Zanzibar, Tanzania where she had been on a five-day Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) monitoring mission, Amb. Ojukwu highlighted the need for careful reflection and constructive dialogue among all Igbo stakeholders.

She called on governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, traditional rulers, clergy, business leaders, and politicians to engage collectively with government authorities.

“Escalatory actions or inflammatory rhetoric will only yield diminishing returns and, in the worst case, create yet another wasteland,” she said.

Amb. Ojukwu emphasized that dialogue remains the most effective approach to resolving the crisis. She underscored the importance of ensuring justice, equity, dignity, and security for all citizens while fostering peaceful coexistence for Ndigbo within Nigeria.

She further reassured Ndigbo, Nigerians, and international partners that a resolution minimizing national tension and societal trauma is still possible. Amb. Ojukwu called for a unified effort across all South Eastern states to seek a sincere and politically viable solution.

She added, “I have just returned from Zanzibar, Tanzania, where I was on NTAC monitoring. To the sad news of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s sentencing: this is not the outcome we prayed for, but it is a reality we must face.

“There comes a time when calm is required, and that time is now. I advise all Ndigbo and Nigerians to exercise utmost restraint. Any action that could escalate tensions at home or abroad should be avoided.

“This situation calls for thoughtful engagement and constructive dialogue among Igbo leaders, including governors, legislators, clergy, traditional rulers, business people, and politicians, to collectively engage with government authorities.

“Fury and sabre-rattling will only worsen the situation. Dialogue is the path to resolving this crisis, ensuring mutual coexistence for Ndigbo in Nigeria, while protecting the rights and security of all citizens.

“I reassure everyone that solutions exist that can reduce national anxiety and societal trauma. Now is the time for all of Ala Igbo to unite, engage sincerely, and work toward a political resolution across all South Eastern states.”
