Ratcliffe wants to buy a stake in the club, with a view to taking full control if the Glazers welcome new investment.
Newsonline report that the spokesman for the Ineos billionaire confirmed that Ratcliffe would welcome the chance to talk to the club’s American owners.
“If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer,” the spokesman said.
The report earlier that the Glazer family are finally open to selling Manchester United.
The infamous Red Devils owners would consider selling a minority stake in the club as the pressure continues to mount, claim American outlet, Bloomberg.

The report adds that the Glazers have held some preliminary discussions about the possibility of bringing in a new investor.
But they are not willing to cede control of United, which could be valued at about £5 billion.
