Emir Sanusi has laments Tinubu among other Nigeria’s leaders poor leadership and urged the youth to take charge.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has criticized Nigeria’s leadership, describing it as “lousy” and responsible for the nation’s prolonged challenges.

Speaking on Saturday at the second Kano International Poetry Festival (KAPFEST), the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said the country has not been fortunate with quality leaders for many years.

“You rise and fall with the quality of your leadership, and Nigeria has had lousy leadership for a long time. You cannot give what you do not have until we begin to look at the people who we choose to lead us,” Sanusi declared.

He added that the country would have been bankrupt if the federal government had not removed fuel subsidy, stressing that good governance remains the only solution to Nigeria’s current woes.

Sanusi lamented the state of governance, saying many leaders lacked the capacity for serious debate and often wasted time on trivial matters.

“In most parts of this country, you look at people who are leading you and you say, oh God, is this really the person? How did we end up here? You see it every day in the newspapers, in the legislature, the kind of debates we have, the kind of time we waste on unimportant issues, the pettiness,” he said.

The Emir urged Nigerian youths to rise to the occasion and take over the nation’s leadership from what he called an aging political class.

“With will, the youths can retire them and take over,” he challenged.
