EBS Announces Flagship Of Fresh News Program “EBS Tonight” On May 5

With the debut of EBS Tonight, the station aims to position itself as a leader in modern broadcast journalism, fusing trusted reporting with forward-thinking presentation.

EBS has announced the flagship of a fresh news program “EBS Tonight” on May 5.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) has announced the retirement of its long-running primetime news broadcast, EBS Comprehensive News, marking the end of an era in regional journalism. The final edition of the programme will air on May 4, 2025, at 8 PM.

In its place, EBS will debut a dynamic new show titled EBS Tonight, set to launch on May 5. According to EBS MD,  Sulaiman Aledeh “the new programme is designed to “elevate coverage to new heights” and offer viewers a more immersive, engaging news experience”.

This Nigeria news platform gathered that EBS Tonight will initially run as a one-hour show, with future plans to expand into a two-hour, uninterrupted news talk format. The programme aims to provide expansive coverage of national affairs while also spotlighting major international developments. A key feature will be live interviews with prominent guests from across the globe, facilitating in-depth discussions and a range of perspectives on pressing issues.

“The changing landscape of news consumption calls for a fresh approach,” said Sulaiman Aledeh, MD and Editor-in-Chief of EBS. “EBS Tonight is not just about reporting the news, it’s about creating a platform for meaningful dialogue that resonates with today’s audience.”

The transition marks a significant shift for the station, which has delivered EBS Comprehensive News to viewers for decades. Aledeh acknowledged the programme’s legacy and extended heartfelt thanks to viewers for their loyalty, particularly EBS alumni in Nigeria and abroad. Special recognition was given to Governor Monday Okpebholo, described as the station’s “number one fan and brand ambassador,” for his steadfast support of EBS’s mission to compete on a national scale.

“We are immensely grateful to our community and look forward to this exciting new chapter,” Aledeh said.

With the debut of EBS Tonight, the station aims to position itself as a leader in modern broadcast journalism, fusing trusted reporting with forward-thinking presentation.
