Video showing the dramatic moment DSS took Sowore away following Abuja court ruling has emerged.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that there was drama at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday as operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) took activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, into custody following a court order remanding him in prison.
The incident occurred shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar ordered that Sowore be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending further proceedings in his ongoing trial.
Video footage obtained from the courtroom showed DSS operatives escorting the activist out of the court premises after the ruling, sparking reactions from supporters and observers present at the venue.

The court had earlier ordered Sowore’s remand until Wednesday while it considers an application seeking a stay of the order revoking his bail and issuing a bench warrant for his arrest.
Justice Umar also dismissed an application filed by Sowore asking the judge to recuse himself from the case over alleged bias.
The activist is currently facing prosecution by the DSS over allegations relating to comments he made on social media in which he reportedly referred to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as “a criminal.”
Earlier in the proceedings, Sowore’s defence team argued that the absence which led to the revocation of his bail was not deliberate. According to his counsel, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, the activist missed the court session because he was consulting with his newly engaged lead counsel, a development that was communicated to the court.
Despite the argument, the court declined to reverse its earlier decision and ordered that Sowore remain in custody pending the hearing of his application.
The case has been adjourned until June 24 for further proceedings.
