The local currency opened at N1210 per $1 at the parallel market otherwise known as the black market today Thursday, 26 October 2023, in Lagos Nigeria, after it closed at N1210 per $1 on Wednesday, 25 October 2023.
Even though the dollar to naira opened in the parallel market at ₦1210 per $1 today, Newsonline Nigeria reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognise the parallel market, otherwise known as the black market. The apex bank has therefore directed anyone who requires forex to approach their bank, insisting that the I&E window is the only known exchange.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that in the black market, the players buy a dollar for N1210 and sell for N1215 on Thursday, 26 October 2023.
CBN official dollar to naira exchange rate today
By the close of business on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, some traders quoted inflow rates at about N1300/$1 while cash transactions were being quoted for N1,240. The P2P rate also closed the day at about N1220/$1.
While the black market rates continued to depreciate, the official rates gained on Tuesday closing at N793.34/$1compared to N808/$1 reported at the end of last week.
The intra-day high was N900/$1 while intra-day lows closed at N788.49/$1 as the market recorded a turnover of $81.55 million
