Court Convicts Two For Posting Ganduje Sleeps A Lot Video, Orders 20 Lashes

Gabari also ordered the convicts to make a video on social media in which they will tender an apology to Governor Ganduje.

A Magistrate Court, No Man Land Magistrate Court, sitting in Kano, has convicted two Tiktokers for posting a video titled ‘Governor Ganduje Sleeps a Lot’ on the social platform.

 

Newsonline reports that the Court also ordered that the two convicts, Mubarak Isa Muhammad and Nazifi Muhammad Bala, be flogged 20 lashes for defaming the governor of Kano State, Umar Ganduje.

 

Magistrate Aminu Muhammad Gabari, who convicted the duo also ordered the Tiktokers to sweep the court premises and wash toilets for 30 days for defaming the character of the Kano governor.

The Mubarak Isa Muhammad and Nazifi Muhammad Bala, earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of defamation and inciting public disturbance which was read before Aminu Muhammad Gabari.

 

“According to the First Information Report (FIR), the two men posted on their Tiktok account known as Unique Pickin, that Governor Ganduje does not see a land without selling it and that he sleeps a lot, VON reports” Saharareporters quoted.

 

The prosecutor, Wada Ahmad Wada, Principal State Counsel, Kano State Ministry of Justice, applied for a summary trial.

 

Magistrate Aminu Muhammad Gabari ordered the convicts to pay a fine of N10,000 each for defaming the character of the governor.

 

He also ordered them to pay another fine of N10,000 each for inciting public disturbance.

 

Gabari also ordered the convicts to make a video on social media in which they will tender an apology to Governor Ganduje.
