Chief of Staff Ehie has exposed those who offered a N5bn bribe to impeach Fubara.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has alleged that he was offered a N5 billion bribe to orchestrate the governor’s impeachment.

Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics,’ Ehie claimed he has concrete evidence of the offer stored on his mobile phone. He also revealed that he has printed and distributed copies of the evidence as a safeguard against any potential attack on him.

“I can also open my phone to show you. In the beginning of October 2023, they approached me with a bribe of N5 billion. It is here in my phone,” Ehie stated.

“It was for impeachment. It’s here. I have it, and I have printed it and distributed it, in case, in their evil imagination, they decide to attack me. I already have a son and a brother,” he added.

Ehie disclosed that the alleged bribe attempt occurred while he was serving as the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The political crisis in Rivers State, which culminated in the declaration of a state of emergency on March 18, stems from the ongoing power struggle between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
