The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the Lagos State governor, Sanwo-Olu and APC Lagos Chapter to order.
NewsOnline reports that PDP Lagos Cahpter said the call to Buhari and security agencies followed constant attacks on its governorship candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also called Jandor, and the deputy governorship candidate, Funke Akindele.
According to a press statement on Saturday signed by Hon. Hakeem Amode, the Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary and chairman, JandorFunke 2023 Media and Publicity Team, the PDP chieftain lamented over the Surulere attack on Jandor’s campaign train on Friday, stressing that it is repugnant to deepening democracy and a clear evidence of APC high-handedness and imperialism rule.
Amode said, “The APC-sponsored thugs in Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos state unleashed violence on persons and groups of people in the area ahead of the scheduled visitation of the PDP gubernatorial candidate to the wards on Thursday and Friday, in continuation of his tour of the 245 wards in Lagos State.
“The hoodlums went to the Baale of Ojuoluwa in Empire Area of the LGA to threaten him not to receive the entourage which was billed to pay him a courtesy visit, as the gates leading to the entire area was locked and vehicular movement around the area disrupted.

making a call to INEC on the attacks on its candidates, PDP said, “In the same light, we would like to urge the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that intimidation and harassment of opposition parties by the ruling party-sponsored killer-thugs doesn’t undermine its efforts at ensuring credible elections in Lagos State.
“We appeal to our party members to remain resolute and focused because the leadership of our party and our candidates cannot be cowed by the ruling APC killer-thugs and agbero elements in the state. We urge every loyal member to see the violence displayed as a show of a bad loser who has nothing to offer the people of the state and would do anything to continue squandering our commonwealth in the state.”
“The same set of APC-sponsored thugs mobilized themselves to Soloki street where Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran went to observe the Jumat prayers, welding dangerous weapons, destroying vehicles on his entourage and violently snatched one of our campaign vehicles.
“They also vandalized the campaign vehicles of our House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Soyinka who is also a sitting member of the House of Representatives in that constituency.
“It is important to also point out that the APC-sponsored thugs went ahead to vandalize the PDP secretariat at No. 2 Shittu street, Aguda during which several members of our party sustained various degrees of injuries. A similar incident also occurred on Teniola street where members of the community who were waiting to receive our gubernatorial candidate were dispersed and many of them sustained injuries during the attack.
“Our initial investigation revealed that the killer thugs were sponsored by the APC candidate for House of Representatives in Surulere constituency 2, Hon. Okunlola,” the statement further read.
