US Congressman has visited Nigeria amid ongoing allegations of Christian Genocide.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a United States lawmaker representing Virginia’s Second District in the House of Representatives is currently in Nigeria for what he describes as an official and faith-driven mission.

The congressman announced his visit on Sunday through a post on his official X handle, stating that he arrived in Nigeria “in the name of the Lord and on behalf of the American people.”

“I came to Nigeria in the name of the Lord and on behalf of the American people. Just ending a very productive visit to Nigeria and rounds of meetings. More details to come. Happy Sunday. God is Great!” he wrote.

Although he did not disclose the specifics of his engagements in the country, the visit is believed to be linked to ongoing investigations by some US lawmakers into alleged targeted attacks on Christians in Nigeria.

While the Nigerian government has consistently denied claims of genocide against Christians, several members of the US Congress maintain that Islamic extremist groups are carrying out coordinated assaults on Christian communities.

More details are expected to emerge as the congressman provides updates on his meetings and findings.
