The notice, which was reportedly endorsed by 26 lawmakers, alleged that the governor committed acts in violation of provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Announcing the development, Speaker Amaewhule said the impeachment notice would be officially served on the governor within seven days, in line with legislative procedures.

During the same sitting, the Deputy Majority Leader, Linda Stewart, also read out a separate notice containing allegations of gross misconduct against Deputy Governor Ngozi Oduh, marking the formal inclusion of the deputy governor in the impeachment process.

The move signals a fresh twist in the ongoing political crisis in the state, with further developments expected in the coming days.
