President Donald Trump has revoked the visas of 80,000 Nigerians among others.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the United States government has revoked approximately 80,000 visas, including those belonging to several Nigerian nationals, as part of a sweeping review targeting foreign visa holders linked to criminal or security-related offences.

In a statement released on Thursday, the U.S. Department of State said the move aligns with President Donald Trump’s directive to strengthen national security and immigration controls — describing the action as “promises made, promises kept.”

According to the breakdown provided, 16,000 visas were withdrawn for driving under the influence (DUI), 12,000 for assault-related offences, and 8,000 for theft. Others were linked to terrorism suspicions, public safety threats, or visa overstays.

The department reaffirmed Washington’s zero-tolerance stance on immigration violations, stressing that it will continue to act decisively against any foreign national posing risks to U.S. national security or public order.

“The safety and well-being of Americans remain our top priority. We will continue to review and revoke visas where credible security or criminal concerns exist,” the statement added.
