NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nigeria has lost one of its most revered Christian leaders, Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.

Dr. Ukpai, widely regarded as a spiritual general and faith pioneer, dedicated over six decades of his life to spreading the gospel of Christ with unwavering zeal. His ministry was marked by powerful evangelistic crusades, miraculous healings, and a steadfast commitment to mentoring the next generation of ministers.

The family’s statement reads in part:

“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai. He was a man of uncommon faith — a founding father of evangelism in Nigeria, a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many. While we mourn his physical absence, we rejoice that he has finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”

Throughout his lifetime, Dr. Ukpai’s ministry drew millions to Christ across Nigeria, Africa, and the world. He was celebrated not only for his dynamic teaching and signs-and-wonders ministry but also for his humility and lifelong devotion to serving humanity through faith.

Details of his burial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.

Dr. Uma Ukpai is survived by his wife, children, and a global community of believers deeply touched by his life and legacy.
