Nnamdi Kanu has commenced defence in terrorism trial after court order.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Biafra agitator Nnamdi Kanu has finally complied with the directive of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to begin his defence in the terrorism case filed against him by the Federal Government.

Kanu is currently filing his defence documents inside the courtroom, following the order of Justice James Omotosho, who instructed that the process be completed within the court session.

After several complaints by the defendant regarding access to court facilities, Justice Omotosho directed that the court’s registry be temporarily moved into the courtroom to enable Kanu to file his documents seamlessly.

During Thursday’s proceedings, Federal Government counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), informed the court that he would receive Kanu’s filings directly in the courtroom and respond appropriately once the documents are submitted.

As of the time of filing this report, Kanu’s legal team was still submitting defence documents, while the judge stood down proceedings for one hour to allow the process to be concluded.

Until now, Kanu had consistently declined to open his defence, maintaining that he must first be shown the specific terrorism law he allegedly violated before proceeding.
