BREAKING: Ned Nwoko Set To Dump PDP For APC Amid Delta Political Tensions

Nwoko’s defection would see him joining Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, another prominent Delta North politician, who previously switched allegiance from the PDP to the APC.

Ned Nwoko is reportedly poised to dump PDP for APC amid Delta political tensions.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that strong indications emerged on Sunday that the lawmaker representing Delta North and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, Senator Ned Nwoko, is set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

While the Senator has yet to make an official announcement, his brief response to inquiries on the matter—“soon”—has fueled speculations about his impending defection.

Nwoko, a vocal critic of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is believed to be considering the move due to growing tensions with the state’s PDP leadership.

Reports suggest that the Senator’s strained relationship with influential party members and ongoing political dynamics in Delta State have contributed to his decision.

According to Vanguard, there are hints that former Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who served as Senator for Delta North before Nwoko’s predecessor, Peter Nwaoboshi, is strategizing to return to the Senate in 2027 under the PDP platform.

NewsOnline learnt that this has reportedly created further friction, with Nwoko unwilling to compete for the party’s ticket.

Nwoko’s defection would see him joining Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, another prominent Delta North politician, who previously switched allegiance from the PDP to the APC.

The move, if finalized, could have significant implications for both parties. Nwoko’s departure would be a blow to the PDP, which has long dominated Delta State politics. For the APC, gaining a prominent figure like Nwoko would bolster its prospects in the state, especially ahead of the 2027 general elections.
