BREAKING: INEC Finally Opens Portal For New Political Parties Registrations

INEC also announced the unveiling of a new digital platform, part of its Party Financial Reporting and Auditing System aimed at making the registration process more efficient and transparent.

INEC has finally opened portal for New Political Parties registrations ahead of 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially launched a digital portal to facilitate the registration of new political parties in Nigeria.

In a statement released after its weekly meeting on Thursday, the Commission confirmed that it has so far received 129 applications from various associations seeking recognition as political parties. This includes seven new applications submitted within the last week alone.

The update was signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, who noted that all applications are currently being processed.

“As of today, Thursday, July 10, 2025, we have received seven additional applications, bringing the total to 129,” the statement read.

INEC also announced the unveiling of a new digital platform, part of its Party Financial Reporting and Auditing System aimed at making the registration process more efficient and transparent.

Final testing of the portal is expected to be completed within the coming week.
