Gunmen has kidnapped Ex-Tinubu Minister Adebayo Adelabu’s sister and twin sons in Ibadan.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the younger sister of former Minister of Power and APC governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, has been abducted alongside her twin sons by unidentified gunmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The victims were identified as Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.

According to reports, the abduction occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, while Mrs John-Paul was taking her children to school.

The gunmen reportedly intercepted the family and forcefully whisked them away to an unknown destination.

As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the victims remain unknown, raising concerns among family members, friends, and residents.

A media aide to Adelabu, Femi Awogboro, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday, noting that the matter had been reported to security agencies.

“The family of Chief Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Power and leading gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, wishes to formally confirm the unfortunate kidnapping of his younger sister, Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, alongside her twin sons, Peter and Paul, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026,” the statement read.

Awogboro disclosed that Mrs John-Paul, aged 43, was abducted together with her children while on her routine school run in Ibadan.

He described her as the youngest of the five children of Mrs Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu.

The statement further revealed that Mrs John-Paul previously worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and First Bank Pension Custodian before voluntarily retiring last year.

Following her retirement, she relocated to Ibadan with her children while preparing to reunite with her husband, Mr John Paul, who had earlier moved to the United States.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the Oyo State Police Command were unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, could not be reached at the time of filing this report.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over rising cases of kidnapping and insecurity across parts of the country, with calls mounting for security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the safe release of the victims.
