Government has declared Tuesday Public Holiday for PVC Collection.

NewsOnline reports that in line with the government’s determination to ensure free, fair, and credible elections and to ensure that citizens get their permanent voter’s cards (PVC) a public holiday has been declared.

 

This online newspaper understands that Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has declared Tuesday, 24th January 2023, a work-free day for civil and public servants.

 

Akeredolu said the forthcoming election is an important election that no citizen should be disenfranchised as a result of work. He lamented that southwest states are lagging behind in PVCs collection.

 

This is contained in a statement on Saturday, by the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Richard Olatunde.

The statement noted that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State said there is urgent need for all governors and the Federal government to address the low rate of PVCs collection in the Southwest region.

 

“The importance of the forthcoming elections can not be overemphasized. There is an urgent need for us to address the low rate of PVCs collection in the Southwest.

 

“Beyond partisan lines, it is imperative that our people understand that the PVC is their license to enthrone desired political leadership.

 

“We are constrained to take this decision to enable our people take this advantage and collect their PVCs. It’s important that we all exercise our civic responsibilities,” the statement said.
