Fubara has reportedly been forced out of Rivers APC Governorship Primary amid supremacy battle with Wike.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election in the state amid the lingering political supremacy battle involving former governor and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Fubara disclosed this in a statement personally signed on Wednesday, saying the decision followed extensive consultations with family members, friends, and political associates.

The governor stated that although the decision was difficult, he remained committed to the unity and progress of the APC in Rivers State and would fully support whoever emerges as the party’s governorship candidate.

“After deep reflection and extensive consultations with my family, friends, and associates, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC governorship primaries,” Fubara said.

“I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party,” he added.

Fubara’s withdrawal comes amid growing tensions and internal power struggles within the Rivers APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political observers linking the development to the continuing supremacy battle between the governor and Wike.

The political crisis in Rivers State has intensified in recent months, fueling speculations over control of the party structure and influence ahead of the next election cycle.
