Donald Trump has landed in Israel amid hostage release.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that United States President Donald Trump has landed in Israel amid the dramatic release of the first batch of hostages by Hamas, marking a major breakthrough in the long-running Gaza conflict.

According to multiple international reports, seven Israeli hostages were handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) inside Gaza before being transferred to Israeli authorities. More hostages — including 13 living captives and the remains of 26 others are expected to be released later today as part of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement.

In exchange, Israel is set to release nearly 2,000 Palestinian detainees, signaling a new phase in efforts to end the two-year war.

President Trump’s visit coincides with the implementation of the deal, which was negotiated by Washington and regional partners. He is scheduled to address the Knesset later today before heading to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, for a peace summit with world leaders to consolidate the truce.

Upon arrival, Trump declared that “the war is over,” describing the ceasefire as a historic turning point for the Middle East. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has cautioned that security risks remain, and full demilitarization of Gaza is still under discussion.

Scenes of joy and relief erupted across Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities as families reunited with freed hostages, even as global leaders praised the development as a crucial step toward lasting peace.

This marks the first coordinated hostage release since the war erupted, raising cautious optimism that the bloodshed could finally be nearing an end.
