Defence Minister Christopher Musa has summoned Service Chiefs over rising insecurity and recent attacks in North-East.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, is currently holding a high-level security meeting with service chiefs at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja amid growing concerns over rising insecurity across the country.

Sources confirmed that the meeting is focused on assessing the recent wave of attacks on military formations, particularly in Nigeria’s North-East region.

In the past few days, several military bases in the region have reportedly come under attack by terrorists, escalating fears about the deteriorating security situation.

The development follows the recent killing of three Nigerian Army commanding officers with each holding the rank of lieutenant-colonel during separate terrorist attacks in Borno State.

Among those attending the meeting are the Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede; the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Aneke; and the Chief of Naval Staff, Idi Abass.

Security agencies are also represented at the strategic meeting, including the National Intelligence Agency.

Although details of the deliberations remain undisclosed, the emergency meeting is expected to review ongoing military operations and develop new strategies to address the escalating security threats in the country.
