Newsonline Nigeria reports that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last governorship election in Benue state, Titus Uba.
This Nigeria news platform understands that the PDP appeal had challenged the September 23 judgment of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which dismissed their petition against the return of Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the governorship election held on March 18.
A three-member panel of the tribunal, headed by Justice Ibrahim Karaye, dismissed the petition on the ground that it was a pre-election matter and was statute-barred.
Ruling on the appeal in Abuja, the appeal court’s three-member panel led by Justice Onyekachi Aja Otisi held that Titus Uba failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt the allegations of forgery against Sam Ode.
