Peter Obi in High-Level Consultations Over 2027 Ambition, Says Obidient Movement

Tanko stressed that Obi’s engagements remain focused on identifying the most strategic path that aligns with the collective vision of building a better Nigeria.

Obidient Movement has stated that Peter Obi is currently in a high-level consultations over his  2027 ambition.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Obidient Movement Worldwide has disclosed that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, is currently engaged in extensive consultations with political stakeholders, allies, and affiliated groups ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, made this known in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to Tanko, the consultations are part of ongoing strategic engagements aimed at determining the most effective political direction for Obi and his supporters amid recent developments in the opposition political landscape.

The statement comes amid growing speculation surrounding possible realignments involving Obi and other opposition figures ahead of the 2027 presidential race.

Recall that on Friday, Habibu Mohammed, spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya movement, claimed that Peter Obi and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, were considering leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mohammed said the alleged move followed consultations and endorsement by stakeholders within the movement.

The speculation also intensified following reports that Obi has not attended subsequent ADC meetings since the all-opposition political leaders’ summit held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, in April.

However, Tanko stressed that Obi’s engagements remain focused on identifying the most strategic path that aligns with the collective vision of building a better Nigeria.

“As a movement founded on integrity, accountability, and active citizen participation, we remain committed to ensuring that every decision reflects our values and long-term vision for the country,” the statement read.

He added that the consultations are being conducted carefully and deliberately, with the broader interest of Nigerians at the centre of every discussion.

According to the movement, the ongoing engagements are aimed at securing a political future capable of delivering meaningful reforms and inclusive governance for Nigerians.
