Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is Dead.

 

 

Newsonline reports that Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Atanda Olayiwola Adeyemi is dead.

 

Newsonline Nigeria gathered that the monarch died on Friday.

 

Sources said he died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, late Friday.

 

The remains of the monarch have been brought to Oyo in the early hours of Saturday (today) according to the sources.

 

The monarch was 83 before he joined his ancestors.

 

The monarch reigned for 52 years, which made him the longest serving monarch in the State.

 

The governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde is expected to make an official statement on the passage of the monarch.

 

Alaafin’s death is coming a few months after the passing on of some prominent monarchs in the State.

 

Newsonline recalls that the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi joined his ancestors on December 12th, 2021.

 

The 41 Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji joined his ancestors on January 2nd, 2022.
