National Grid

National Grid has collapsed again throwing Nigeria into a blackout.

Newsonline reports that the National Grid has again experienced system failure, resulting in a nationwide blackout since 6.49 pm on Sunday, June 12, 2022. A day the country marked as Democracy Day.

This online news platform understands that the collapse of the National Grid was disclosed by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). According to the company, the development was responsible for the current power outage being experienced.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that the National Grid disruption marked the 17th time the grid would collapse in the year 2022.

In a post on its verified Facebook page on Sunday night, the AEDC appealed to its Abuja customers and those within its areas of operation for understanding as concerned authorities were working tirelessly to restore the power supply.

“Please be informed that the current power outage is due to a system failure from the National Grid. The system collapsed at about 6.49 pm today 12th June 2022, causing the outage currently being experienced.

“We appeal for your understanding as all stakeholders are working hard to restore normal supply,” the management of AEDC said.
