“God is wonderful. I don’t have to say anything or resort to the court of public opinion, but politics has become something else in Nigeria,” Mohammed said.

Bala Mohammed has warned of “war” and accused APC of using state institutions to persecute opposition.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has warned that the country could be pushed into serious conflict if the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government continues to use state institutions to intimidate and persecute opposition figures.

Mohammed issued the warning in Bauchi while receiving an award as a Safety Ambassador from the Safety Institute of Nigeria, lamenting what he described as the worsening state of politics in the country.

The governor said he was recently shocked to learn that he was being accused of terrorism, describing the allegation as baseless and politically motivated. He also expressed concern over the continued detention of one of his commissioners by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory further alleged that despite enjoying constitutional immunity as a sitting governor, his name had been mentioned in a court motion, which he described as troubling.

“God is wonderful. I don’t have to say anything or resort to the court of public opinion, but politics has become something else in Nigeria,” Mohammed said.

He accused the Federal Government of attempting to weaponise the judiciary and anti-graft agencies against members of the opposition.

“The APC-led Federal Government thinks it can use the courts and institutions of government, like the EFCC, to persecute and prosecute Nigerians who are not members of their party. If they don’t stop, we are going to declare war,” the governor warned.
