The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council for Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima’s presidential ambition has accused Arise TV of planning to embarrass its presidential candidate.

Newsonline reports that the accusation comes after a press release from Arist/Thisday editor, accusing Tinubu and his campaign council of threatening the independence of the press by acting to intimidate Arise TV morning show anchor, Oseni Rufai and other staff of the television station and its print paper, Thisday.

In a response to the allegation of intimidation leveled against Tinubu and his campaign council, the Director of Media and Publicity, APC PCC, Bayo Onanuga said the insistence of the Arise TV for their presidential candidate to appear in the station’s town hall against the earlier statement that the former governor of Lagos State has busy schedule as such will not attend any town hall meeting the media showed they have a plan to embarrass him.

The statement read in part, “We, repeat again: We will not make our candidate available to validate a scheme which, in the light of unassailable information at our disposal, is nothing but a racket by the Arise TV owner, designed to embarrass our candidate.

Onanuga added that their “candidate is already executing another communications strategy to reach the most important target: the Nigerian voters.”

APC PCC further accused Reuben Abati, one of the anchors of the Arise TV morning show of being partisan. They said having contested as deputy governorship candidate to Late Senator Buruji Kashamu in 2019, Abati and the management of Arise TV have ulterior motive in their consistent invitation.
