Newsonline Nigeria reports that Canada, known for welcoming people from all over the world has shared a new plan for the next three years.

This plan is about how many skilled workers and caregivers they will let come to live in Canada.

Big Numbers for New People

The plan says that in the year 2024, Canada wants 485,000 new people to come. In 2025 and 2026, they hope to see 500,000 new people each year. This number has not changed from before. But now, they also tell us about 2026.

Who Are These New People?

Economic Class

Most of the new people will be what is called ‘economic immigrants’. This means they are picked because they have skills that help Canada’s money and jobs. These include skilled workers like carpenters and people who do important jobs like taking care of others in their homes.

In 2024, almost 281,135 people will come for jobs. This will go up to 301,250 by 2026.

Family Class

Another part of the plan is for family. This means people who have family in Canada can be asked to live there. The family in Canada must be able to help them with money and a place to live.

In 2024, they want 114,000 people to come as family. This will go a little up to 118,000 by 2026.

Helping People in Need

Canada also helps people who need a safe place because of danger or bad things happening in their countries. They plan to let 89,865 people come in 2024 and a bit less, 80,832, by 2026.

Special Programs for Coming to Canada

There are also special ways to come to Canada:

  • Express Entry: This is a quick way for skilled people to move to Canada. They hope 110,700 people will come this way in 2024, and more in the next years.
  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): Provinces in Canada can pick people for jobs they need. This will also go up from 110,000 people in 2024 to 120,000 in the following years.
  • Family Sponsorship: This is for husbands, wives, and kids. Canada wants 82,000 people to come this way in 2024, and a little more after that.
  • Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP): People can also bring their parents or grandparents. The plan is for 32,000 people in 2024 and more in the years after.

Why This Plan?

The government says this plan helps Canada’s jobs and money grow. They also want to make sure there are enough houses and that schools and doctors are ready for more people. They will keep checking how many people come to make sure it’s good for everyone.

Laws and Rules

Canada has a big rule book for coming to live there called the Immigration and Refugees Protection Act (IRPA). Every year, they must share their plan by November 1, if it’s not an election year.

The plan helps Canada decide how many people and who can come. The goal is to make Canada’s economy strong, bring families together, and help people who need a safe place.

In short, Canada’s new plan is about welcoming skilled workers and caregivers. It’s about growing their country in a good way, while making sure everyone who comes can have a good life in Canada.
