Apostle Alao has urged President Tinubu to free Nnamdi Kanu and address Igbo insecurity fears.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Spiritual Head of the Sacred Cherubim & Seraphim Church of Nigeria, His Eminence Apostle Prophet Solomon Alao, has called on the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, from detention, stating that his release would ease tension in the country.

Apostle Alao made the call at a world press conference to usher in the 95th General Conference of the church in Lagos.

According to him, “The release of Kanu is important to Ndigbo, and if you do so, you (President Bola Tinubu) would have written your name in gold, and things will be smooth for your administration. His release from custody will also help to douse the current tension in Nigeria. It will bring back hope for the Igbo people.”

While advocating for the South East to rule the country, he said, “They (South East) should also be allowed to lead. They feel insecure because they know they are being treated as second-class citizens in a country they are supposed to be part of.”

On the state of the nation, Apostle Alao said, “We are yet to become one nation because we have continued to promote religion, tribe, and ethnicity at the expense of the country. In addition, corruption has been crowned. President Tinubu gave us a clue when he ran on a Muslim ticket in 2023. To me, Nigerians would be better if political, elective, and civil appointments were based on merit and proven competence instead of tribe, ethnicity, or religion.”

He, however, applauded President Tinubu for what he described as extraordinary courage exhibited while removing fuel subsidies, noting that “there is no doubt in my mind that the president must have stepped on many toes, as very few Nigerians have been milking the nation dry under the fuel subsidy regime.”
