APC has threatened VeryDarkMan over alleged attack on Senate President Akpabio and demanded a public apology within one week.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the South-South Zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, demanding a public apology within seven days over what they described as a disrespectful outburst against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

This Nigeria news platform understands that in a statement released on Sunday by the South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary, Blessing Agbomhere, the APC cautioned the popular social media activist to understand the line between activism and defamation, warning him to desist from further verbal attacks on the former Akwa Ibom State governor.

The party’s reaction follows a viral video in which VeryDarkMan criticised Akpabio’s role in the federal government delegation to the Vatican for the funeral of Pope Francis. In the three-minute clip, the influencer described Akpabio’s trip to Rome as “shameful,” arguing that the Senate President should have instead visited Nigerian states such as Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Ogun, and Enugu, recently affected by violent attacks.

Responding, Agbomhere condemned the remarks, accusing VeryDarkMan of using activism as a cover for blackmail and character assassination. He said, “VeryDarkMan is becoming notorious for blackmail, slander, and character assassination while pretending to be an advocate for the masses. The unwarranted verbal attack on the number three citizen of Nigeria, who did not send himself to Rome but was duly nominated by the President to represent Nigeria, is unacceptable.”

Defending Akpabio’s nomination, Agbomhere explained that President Bola Tinubu selected him due to his strong Catholic faith and unblemished public record. He said, “Being a devout Catholic and family man with an unblemished character, President Tinubu saw in Akpabio a worthy ambassador of Nigeria to the Vatican.”

Agbomhere further declared, “I am, with this statement, issuing VeryDarkMan a one-week ultimatum to immediately tender an unreserved apology to the Senate President for the slanderous comments, and to desist from further acts capable of bringing the integrity of the Tinubu-led administration into disrepute before the global community.”

The APC chieftain urged Nigerians to disregard what he described as VeryDarkMan’s “uninformed rantings,” adding that the federal government is actively addressing Nigeria’s security challenges, many of which, he noted, were inherited.

Highlighting Tinubu’s commitment to security reforms, Agbomhere said, “Upon his return from France and the UK, President Tinubu met with security chiefs and gave them marching orders to deploy a different approach in combating insecurity. Does this sound like a leader who is unserious about protecting lives and property?”

He concluded by reminding citizens that Nigeria’s security challenges require time, patience, and strategic action to resolve, saying, “The complex security problems in the country cannot be wished away overnight. The Tinubu-led administration is fully committed to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.”
