APC Chieftain Urges Southern Leaders to Protect Tinubu Against Northern Elites Opposition

He added that Tinubu has done enough to win over the major power blocs in the North, and it is time for recognized Northern leaders and royal fathers to distance themselves from the disruptive few.

APC Chieftain has urged Southern Leaders to protect Tinubu against Northern Elites opposing his 2027 reelection.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Osun State, has called on political and traditional leaders in Southern Nigeria to rally behind President Bola Tinubu and shield him from a small group of elite Northern politicians allegedly bent on sabotaging his 2027 reelection bid.

Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye emphasized that President Tinubu has consistently supported Northern political interests and thus deserves the region’s backing for a second term.

He expressed concern over a recurring pattern where a splinter clique in the North undermines Southern Presidents through various tactics, including blackmail, in their quest to reclaim power.

“The nation’s political history won’t forget the intimidation Southern Presidents have suffered at the hands of a few from the North who oppose their reelection,” Oyintiloye said.

He added that Tinubu has done enough to win over the major power blocs in the North, and it is time for recognized Northern leaders and royal fathers to distance themselves from the disruptive few.

“These self-appointed leaders of the North should be sidelined by the region’s legitimate political and traditional authorities to stop the blackmail against Tinubu,” he stated.

Oyintiloye also urged Southern political leaders and traditional rulers not to collaborate with disgruntled Northern politicians plotting against Tinubu.

“This is why Southern leaders must unite and rally support for the President to halt the usual negative political trajectory that often accompanies the reelection bids of Southern Presidents,” he said.

He appealed to influential figures such as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Chairman of the Council of Southern Traditional Rulers, and co-chairmen Obi of Obinugwu, King Jaja of Opobo, and other Southern elders to lead efforts in securing Tinubu’s victory by working closely with their Northern counterparts.

Oyintiloye further called on former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, Professor Wole Soyinka, and former Senate President Ken Nnamani to rise and defend Southern Nigeria against “a few Northern power mongers.”

He concluded by asserting that Tinubu’s reelection would bring stability to Nigeria and ensure equitable federal development across all regions.
