American Government has hailed popular Nigerian for joining Yale University.

Newsonline reports that the American government has congratulated Obiageli ‘Oby’ Ezekwesili who joined the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs.

 

Now a senior fellow, the former Education Minister will tutor and mentor post-graduate students during the 2021 fall semester.

She will teach courses on Democracy and Africa’s Political Distortions, and Resolving Africa’s Economic Philosophy Dilemma.

 

“A great example of burgeoning Nigerian-American ties!”, the United States’ reaction added.

 

Ezekwesili and five others joined the institution, Peter Salovey, President of Yale University announced in a statement.

 

The 2021 senior fellows include Staffan de Mistura (Italy & Sweden), Jessica Faieta (Ecuador), Anne Patterson, David Brooks and Jessica Seddon (United States).

They are economic experts, astute commentators, publishers, bestselling authors, ambassadors, and academics.

Salovey said the global figures, leading in various fields of international affairs, will spend a year or semester at Yale.

Ezekwesili, a former World Bank Vice President, is Senior Economic Adviser to the Africa Economic Development Policy Initiative and a co-founder and pioneer director of Transparency International (TI).

She was head of Nigeria’s budget monitoring and price intelligence unit, where she earned the alias “madam due process”.

Ezekwesili also served as Minister of Solid Minerals, chairperson of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), among others local and international positions.
