10th Senate Principal Officers

Akpabio has announced Bamidele and Umahi as the 10th Senate Principal Officers.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has revealed the names of the Principal Officers of the tenth Senate majority caucus, solidifying the foundation for legislative activities in the chamber.

In a recent announcement, Akpabio unveiled the key positions and affirmed the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus’ consensus on the appointments.

This Nigeria News Platform understands that Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, representing Ekiti Central, was appointed as the Senate Majority Leader, a significant role that carries responsibility for coordinating the activities and setting the direction of the majority caucus. Bamidele’s experience and dedication make him an excellent choice for this influential position.

Additionally, Senator Dave Umahi of Ebonyi South was named the Deputy Majority Leader, while Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South was designated as the Chief Whip.

Their roles involve supporting the majority leader and ensuring the smooth functioning of the caucus, including organizing legislative efforts, promoting party cohesion, and maintaining discipline within the APC ranks.

Completing the lineup, Senator Lola Ashiru, representing Kwara South, was chosen as the Deputy Whip, providing valuable assistance to the chief whip and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the caucus.

Akpabio emphasized that these appointments resulted from extensive consultations within the APC caucus. The Senate President acknowledged the significance of establishing strong leadership, which will serve as the fulcrum for commencing legislative activities and setting the course for the tenth Senate.

Expressing his satisfaction with the outcome, Akpabio officially announced the positions, expressing confidence in the capabilities and commitment of the appointed leaders.

The appointments were made by consensus, reflecting the cohesive nature of the APC caucus and its shared vision for effective governance.

Following the announcement, the Senate swiftly transitioned into a closed session, preparing to tackle important matters of national interest and legislative significance.
